This four storey office rises above Velvet Bar on Canal Street in Manchester providing a unique working environment for PR company Communiqué. The Victorian warehouse, which had remained derelict for some time, was completely stripped to its raw state – pitch pine and cast iron beams, exposed brickwork and timber flooring. These natural elements become the backdrop for the modern insertions required for a 21st century office. Harrison Ince focussed the majority of the £250,000 budget on the dramatic steel stair which rises up the full height of the building in one corner that has been eroded away to create a stimulating experience for the visitor and occupants. The conference room also has a unique identity with the external skin.
