Established in 1997, the Tampopo restaurant is evolving into one of the more innovative and successful brands in the north of England. Harrison Ince designed all three restaurants and each has its own individual charm and identity.

The first to open was Albert Square in Manchester, which lies in a top lit basement and encompasses the characteristics that flow through each of the restaurants. The open kitchen, the bench seating, the clean, minimalist interior and the clever use of lighting are all themes that have been developed during the evolution of Tampopo.

The most adventurous venue is situated on the ground floor of a bank building on South Parade in Leeds. It boasts a separate raised bar area as well as the more familiar elements. It is the inventive interplay of the ceiling planes that gives this interior its unique flavour. Born out of a pragmatic need for access to the services from the apartments above, the differing levels and diffused lighting effects provide a highly sculptural aesthetic.

The third restaurant opened in 2001 and is located in The Trafford Centre, Manchester.
