Harrison Ince were commissioned in 1998 to complete Phase 2 of this award winning and highly environmentally conscious mixed-use development just outside of Manchester city centre. The design for the twenty-five unit residential building was developed through a series of evening workshops run by Harrison Ince and attended by the end user group. All elements of design were discussed from the conceptual and planning stage to the interior specifics of kitchen and bathroom fittings. The £2.5 million complex arrangement of buildings, which form Phase 2, are a highly sculptural mix of forms, colours, materials and textures which create an individual and stunning piece of architecture. The palette of materials so successful on Phase 1 is reflected again – western red cedar, zinc, render and buff brickwork combine to form an unmistakable vision for the future of housing.
